Web Design Option


Web designers combine their design abilities with technical knowledge to work and create in a constantly evolving medium. In the web design track of the Digital Media Design program, students will explore many areas of web design, including website development, e-commerce, and interactive design along with core design classes.


As a web designer, students may find jobs in web design, which is creating the look and feel of a website, as a web developer, who works with XHTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, and other tools to develop dynamic web pages, as a web programmer, who works with server-side systems and databases, as a web producer, who organizes web development projects, and as a content developer, who produces text, graphic media and content for a site.

Graphic Design Option


Graphic Design is the union of creativity, conceptual thinking, and the ability to communicate a message with clarity. Students involved in the graphic design track can expect to study the principles of design, typography, color theory, and print design as well as courses in specific digital software tools.


As a graphic designer, students may find jobs in magazine and newspaper publishing, illustration and marketing graphics, virtual reality simulation design, portrait and/or wedding photography, advertising and journalism, web design, video production, and 2-D and 3-D animation

Welcome! The Digital Media Design program at Central Ohio Technical College is merging innovative design with cutting edge technology to give students the most comprehensive and current education and training available. Located in beautiful downtown Newark Ohio, at the Works Muesum facility, our labs create an enriching and stimulating learning environment. Students may choose from three different design options: digital graphics, web design, and game design.


The curriculum is focused on developing the student's technical skills and creative vision, with an emphasis on building a portfolio that will prepare the student to enter the workforce in fields of digital media development and design.
